James and Hasan to share the stage at Rock N Rhythm 5.0 as Dhaka’s rock scene looks back and forward
Warfaze, Aurthohin, Shunno and other performers will join the Nagar Baul and Ark frontmen at Carnival Arena on 23 October.

Dhaka's live music calendar is set to mark a notable reunion when Nagar Baul James and Ark's Hasan appear together at "Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone" on Friday, 23 October, at Carnival Arena in Jamuna Future Park. The two singers, whose work defined large parts of Bangladesh's rock landscape in the 1990s, will headline a bill that also includes Warfaze, Aurthohin, Shunno, and additional performers. For many listeners the pairing is less about a single concert date and more about hearing two familiar voices from an earlier chapter of the local scene in the same room after a long gap.
James and Hasan built their reputations during a period when Bangladeshi rock was expanding rapidly. Bands were writing original material in Bangla, experimenting with heavier guitar tones, and finding audiences outside the mainstream film-music circuit.
James, long associated with Nagar Baul, and Hasan, known for his work with Ark, became regulars on radio playlists and at campus and city concerts. Their songs remain widely recognised, yet joint appearances on the same stage have grown infrequent as both artists continued separate paths. Organisers of the Rock N Rhythm series have positioned this fifth edition as an opportunity to revisit that shared history while still presenting a full night of live rock.
The supporting lineup broadens the evening beyond the two headliners. Warfaze, Aurthohin, and Shunno bring their own established catalogues and loyal followings.
Guitarist Oni Hasan is scheduled for a special appearance with Warfaze as well as a solo segment, adding another layer of instrumental focus. AK Rahul is also listed among the performers. Adventor Communications, which has run the Rock N Rhythm series since 2022, has confirmed that necessary administrative permissions are in place. Previous editions of the series have drawn audiences interested in both classic and contemporary Bangladeshi rock and metal; the organisers have indicated that this year's show is being planned on a larger scale.
Ticket details are already public. Early-bird passes were made available through Tickify.live at Tk 999. The pricing and online sales approach reflect the way most mid-sized Dhaka concerts now reach audiences, relying on advance purchase rather than purely on-site queues. For fans who remember the 1990s recordings or who discovered the music later through streaming and reissues, the 23 October date offers a chance to hear the material performed live rather than only through speakers or headphones.
The concert arrives at a moment when Bangladeshi rock continues to exist in several overlapping spaces: older bands still touring, newer groups building smaller but dedicated followings, and occasional larger festivals that try to bridge generations. James and Hasan's presence together sits within that broader pattern. It is not presented as a one-off nostalgia event alone, but as part of an ongoing series that has already staged multiple editions. Whether the night succeeds in reconnecting longtime listeners with the sound of their youth or in introducing those songs to younger concert-goers will depend on the performances themselves and on how the audience receives them. For now, the confirmed lineup and the October date have given the city's rock audience a clear marker on the calendar and a reason to revisit songs that many have not heard live in the same setting for some time.
