Shakib Khan Gears Up for Nissho as Borbaad Team Reunites for 2027 Eid
Directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, the action-romance-revenge drama is expected to begin shooting soon, with Idhika Paul reportedly in talks to star opposite Shakib.

Dhallywood's most consistent box-office draw is preparing another large-scale theatrical release. Shakib Khan has rejoined director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy and the Real Energy Production team for a new film titled Nissho, an action-romance-revenge drama that the makers are targeting for Eid-ul-Fitr 2027. The collaboration carries extra attention because the same core group delivered Borbaad during Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, a commercial success that raised expectations for whatever followed.
Months earlier, Shakib had signalled the reunion on social media, writing that the Borbaad team was returning and intended to make history again. He formally signed the project in early July, shortly before travelling to the United States, and the official title has since been confirmed as Nissho. The name itself ended a period of speculation in which other working titles had also circulated. With the title settled, attention has shifted to the production timeline and the remaining casting decisions.
Industry sources indicate that Kolkata actress Idhika Paul is expected to appear opposite Shakib once more. If confirmed, the pairing would mark their third screen collaboration. Producer Shahrin Akter Sumi has acknowledged Shakib's involvement while remaining cautious about announcing the full cast. She has indicated that roles will be finalised according to the requirements of the finished screenplay rather than through early public commitments. Shooting is currently planned to begin around the middle of this month, though exact start dates can still shift once the remaining preparations are complete.
Hridoy has previously said the new film will present Shakib in a noticeably different way from his recent work. That comment has fuelled discussion among fans who want to see whether the director will push the star into fresher territory while still delivering the mass-appeal elements that drove Borbaad's commercial performance. The earlier film is reported to have crossed the Tk 75 crore mark at the box office, giving the reunion a clear benchmark. Meeting or surpassing that figure will be difficult, especially as audience habits and competition continue to change.
For the producer, the project also represents a significant financial commitment. Sumi has spoken in the past about the narrow profit margins that often face big-budget producers in the local industry. Many leave after one or two films when returns fail to justify the investment. Returning with another high-profile production therefore carries both opportunity and risk. Success would strengthen the case for continued large-scale investment; underperformance would underline the same structural challenges she has already highlighted.
Shakib's own schedule remains busy. His more recent release Rockstar did not achieve the same commercial impact as Borbaad and later became available on the OTT platform Chorki. Another project, Soldier, is still in the pipeline with some final shooting pending. The addition of Nissho means the star is positioning himself for another high-visibility Eid season in 2027, with multiple films potentially competing for audience attention around the same holiday window.
Whether the Borbaad combination can recreate its earlier momentum remains the central open question. The title is now public, the key creative team is aligned, and pre-production is advancing. The coming weeks will show how quickly cameras begin rolling and which co-stars join the final cast. For now, Nissho stands as one of the more closely watched Dhallywood announcements of the year, carrying the weight of a previous hit and the expectations that inevitably follow a successful reunion.
